Biography
Zighen Aym is an Algerian-born writer and photographer. His first camera was a Canon TX, which he bought in 1977 when a gallon of gas cost $0.59. His love of photography started as he began to record events around him, be it people, sceneries, or objects. He later found that a picture's importance grew with time as it was almost impossible to retake it. In parallel, he also started to write ideas, emotions, and stories, recording therefore another aspect of life, which a camera cannot do.
Thought about Life
Life is nothing but successful events happening around you and me. Every event , however small, transforms our lives. It could be as a simple encounter at a café or a stranger's smile at an airport. It can be a object left laying down on the floor, an animal taking a nap, or a writing on a wall. The objects fascinate me because they open new roads for us, affects us emotionally, and forces us to ponder about life.
One day, I happened to see many spider webs on the side road as I drove to work. Fascinated, I returned to that location early the following Saturday and spent more than two hours taking pictures of the little creatures, and I discovered the fragility of their lives.
Later, the FBI got involved and the story was published in Still Moments: A Story about Faded Dreams and Forbidden Pictures
