Undercover Boss, the new CBS Sunday program, follows the CEO or CEO of a company as he/she gets temporary employment at different business units.
On the first episode, Larry Odonnell, COO of Waste Management Inc., beomces “Randy Lawrence" and is presented to his new WM future co-workers as a laid-off construction worker in search of a job and a new career. The presence of the camera is explained as a documentary about his hunt for a new job.
Larry or “Randy” learns of lot about the corporate policies he has implemented but also a few ones his managers has instituted on their own on their workers.
I suggest that a new program “undercover Senator” or “undercover congress.” A camera will follow a senator or a congressman/congresswoman as he/she finds out the following:
- what it means to live without health care or loose health care coverage
- what it means to go to war.
- what it means to loose a job.
